About Lisa Morrison

Lisa Morrison is a Canadian oil painter based in Ottawa, Ontario, whose work explores the beauty, atmosphere, and emotional character of the natural world.

Raised in rural Nova Scotia, with strong family connections to Cape Breton Island and Eastern Nova Scotia, Lisa developed an enduring appreciation for the Atlantic coastline and its rugged, ever-changing landscapes. These early experiences continue to influence her paintings, alongside the forests, waterways, and countryside of Ontario.

Working primarily in oils, Lisa uses expressive brushwork, layered texture, and a distinctive approach to colour to capture more than the physical appearance of a scene. Her paintings explore the relationship between light, land, and atmosphere, moving between moments of quiet reflection and bold, energetic interpretations of nature.

Inspired by both Impressionist and contemporary landscape traditions, Lisa began painting in 2022 and has since exhibited her work in solo, group, and juried exhibitions. Her original paintings are held in private collections, and her artwork has also been licensed for use by other professional artists.

Through Morrison Rural Studios, Lisa continues to develop a body of work grounded in personal experience, a strong sense of place, and the expressive possibilities of oil paint.
